Immigration to Canada

STARTUM Consulting represents clients on different matters related to Canadian immigration.  Our licensed and experienced Canadian Immigration Consultants will assist you to find your immigration path, as well as, prepare all required documents.  We can assist you to become a permanent resident of Canada through several Federal and Provincial Nominee Programs.

Permanent Resident Federal Programs – Express Entry.

This program includes three main directions:

• Federal Skilled Worker (FSW).  This program is beneficial for workers with one year or more qualified foreign professional experience, high level of education and excellent English or French skills.
• Federal Skilled Trade (FST).  This program is beneficial for workers with two or more years of experience in trades.  It also requires the candidate to have certification or a job offer from a Canadian employer.
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is beneficial for workers with a minimum of one-year qualified Canadian experience and good English or French skills.  A job offer from Canadian Employer is not required but will be beneficial.

Provincial Nominee Programs

STARTUM Consulting specializes in all Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs.  Canadian Provinces have the right to nominate potential immigrants who have professions that are needed in the province.  In addition to the skilled workers stream, almost all Provinces have an International graduate stream for International students who have completed an education and received a certificate, diploma, or degree in Canada.

Family Sponsorship

As the final decision on granting visas rests with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, we cannot guarantee approval. Study in Canada

Education in Canada

One of the most popular methods of immigration to Canada is by becoming a full-time student at a Canadian college or university.  After graduation from the Canadian college or university, a former student is eligible to get Canadian work experience and apply for immigration.  This makes education in Canada a particularly attractive option for students from all over the world.

• Summer camps – summer youth programs for children (10-17 years old), includes accommodations, food, transfers, excursions and entertaining program after school.

In order to apply for a student visa, you are required to be accepted into an accredited Canadian college or university.  Educational institutions set different admissions requirements for various programs.  STARTUM Consulting can help you choose the college and study program most suitable for your needs.  The following factors are considered when choosing an education institution for our clients: budget, language, previous education, planned subject of study, and other client preferences.

When a letter of acceptance is received from a Canadian college or university, the student will need to prepare documents and apply for a student visa.  When applying for this type of visa, the required documents will cover 3 key areas:

• Proof of finance (ability to pay tuition fee and housing expenses)
• Proof of ties with your country of citizenship.
• Motivation letter describing why do you want to study in Canada, how this is connected with your career path and education background.

Applications for student visas can be submitted online which makes it easier to process documents from all over the world.  Original documents are not required.

Work in Canada

To be able to work in Canada, foreign professionals must receive authorization (work permit).

A work permit is a document issued by Immigration Canada that allows foreign nationals to work for a limited time in a specific job for a specific employer in Canada.

We can provide assistance in:

• Preparing to apply for a job in Canada
• Representing a Canadian employer in obtaining authorization to hire foreign workers (LMIA)
• Preparing files for submission to Immigration Canada
• Representing clients before Immigration Canada to obtain a work permit and entry visa.

In most instances, a work permit will only be issued by an immigration officer after Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) has approved the job offer from a Canadian employer to a foreign national.

Being employed in Canada is the most reliable way to immigrate to Canada.

Canadian employers must meet requirements established by Ministry of Labour. These include being officially registered, financially stable, and active for a minimum of one year. More importantly, the company must provide supporting documents to prove that it is not able to hire required workers in Canada. To apply for a right to hire foreign workers – LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) and submit a request to invite, the company must pay a fee as set by the government. The fee will not be refunded if the request is denied. Therefore, the Canadian employer must be highly motivated to hire foreign workers from outside of Canada.

Distance and International Calls

Restoration and Extension

If you wish to extend your visit in Canada or to change your status (for instance from student to worker) our consultants will support you in this process. You should apply at least 30 days before your status expires.  The main advantage of applying 30 days prior to the expiration of your visa is that even if you do not receive a response from Immigration prior to the time your visa expires your application (which you must be able to prove with a receipt) deems you to have “implied status” until Citizenship and Immigration Canada provides you with an extension.

In the event you failed to apply for an extension of your visitor’s status prior to its expiration you may seek to “restore” it and our company will help you to make an application for restoration within 90 days of the expiration.  Your chances of Citizenship and Immigration Canada granting a restoration increase where you have complied with all conditions of your visa other than the expiration and provide a reasonable explanation as to how you allowed your status to lapse.

PR Cards and Citizenship

STARTUM CONSULTING supports clients with these types of applications and help apply for PR Card and Canadian Citizenship.

PR CARD

The Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) is the official proof of status as a permanent resident in Canada and is used as a valid identity document for persons traveling abroad and returning to Canada by car, bus, airline or any other means of transportation.

The PR card is issued for a period of five years, after which it can be renewed if the Canadian resident has met the residency requirements of physical presence in Canada for at least 730 days out of the five-year period. Exceptions may apply for some categories of applicants:

Permanent Resident has been traveling with a Canadian citizen who is their spouse, common-law partner, or their parent; or

Permanent Resident has been employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or in the federal public administration or the public service of a province; or

Permanent Resident was accompanying a permanent resident (who is their spouse, common-law partner, or their parent) that is employed on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or in the federal public administration or the public service of a province.

Canadian Citizenship Application

Canadian Citizenship is one of the most valued and desirable statuses in the world. To apply for citizenship, you must meet the basic eligibility requirements, as stated by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

In order to apply for Canadian citizenship you must:

• Provide proof that you know how to speak and write in 1 of Canada’s official languages (either English or French)
• Be a Permanent Resident (PR)
• Have lived in Canada as a PR for at least 1,095 days out of the 5 years before you apply
• Have filed your taxes for at least 3 years during the last 5 years and any income tax you may owe must be paid

If the application is accepted, the applicant will be required to write a citizenship test. Children under 18 years of age and persons 54 and over are exempted from this test. Applicants might be asked to provide fingerprints and/or court documents when apply for citizenship.

APPLICATION REVIEW

Professional Review Service

Any information that you submit to IRCC remains in your records forever. Immigration officer who makes a decision about your case will always refer to this information any time you apply. If you would like to make your application without assistance of licensed immigration consultant, you may ask a professional review of your documents in the following situations:

• You prepared all the documents, filled out all forms, but you to check if there are any mistakes
• Your package is ready, but you do not know where to send it
• Your file is almost ready, but you are not confident if you provided enough documents
• You required to provide specific documents, but you don’t know how to get them
• You have some questions about application forms
• You have some doubts regarding information provided in your application and its impact on success of your application.

For such situations STARTUM Consulting offers to check immigration application before submission (Professional Review Service). You provide all filled forms and supporting documents, and our licensed immigration consultant will review your package. It is a great opportunity to check all mistakes, correct them before package submission, and avoid any delays and denials.

Period of immigration application file check: 1 to 7 work days depending on the amount of documents.

Cost of second look service:

Use this option ONLY when you have already completed the application package and need RCIC time to review your completed forms and documents. The cost is $300 per hour, the total cost will depend on the application type and fullness.
